About Us
Pet Dog and Puppy is a website for people who live with dogs, or are thinking about getting one, and want clear, practical information they can trust.
We write about dog breeds, everyday care and how to find a puppy safely. The aim is simple. We want to help you make calm, well-informed choices that work for your home and for the dog.
What You'll Find Here
- Breeds - short overviews of popular breeds, from the Labrador Retriever to the Dachshund, with size, exercise, grooming, training and the health checks to ask about.
- Care - guides to feeding by age, vaccinations, fleas, house training, first training steps, living space and working out your dog's age in human years.
- Finding a Puppy - how to choose a breeder or rescue and how to spot puppy farms and scams.
- Rules and Laws - what the law says about dogs in the US, UK, Australia and the EU, from licenses and microchips to leashes and breeding.
How We Check Our Guides
Every health, legal or safety point on this site comes from an official body, a veterinary organization or another reputable source, and we link to it. Pages with these points have a Sources list and a Last reviewed date at the bottom, so you can see where the information came from and how recent it is.
Rules on things like microchipping, puppy sales and vaccination differ between countries, states and provinces. Where they differ, we say so, name the place, and point you to the official source.
We are not vets, and these guides are general information, not veterinary advice for your dog. If your dog is unwell or you are unsure, please talk to a local vet.
Who Runs This
Pet Dog and Puppy is run by dog lovers and pet enthusiasts who care about clear, honest advice. We don't rank breeders, list puppies for sale or take payment to recommend products.
